Climate Protester Glues Himself To Commercial Jet

A British Airways Embraer 190 jet had to be taken out of service after a climate change protester reportedly glued himself to the top of the plane. Former Paralympic cyclist James Brown was taking part in a protest organized by Extinction Rebellion to shut down the London City Airport when he climbed on top of the plane.

"Here I am on top of a f****** aeroplane at City Airport. I hate heights. I'm s ******* myself. I managed to get on the roof. I am so shaky," he said in a video streamed on Facebook.

When he saw security guards approach, he was relieved that they were coming to take him down from the top of the jet.

"Oh, good security are coming. I hope they don't take too long because this is f****** scary," he said.

According to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick, the initial investigation revealed that Brown had a ticket for the flight and jumped on top of the plane while it was boarding.

"Actually, that was a reckless, stupid and dangerous thing to do for all concerned," Dick said. "But I think you can see that is quite a hard thing to predict or stop from happening."

Once Brown was removed from the top of the jet, British Airways took it out service to check the fuselage for damage. Passengers who had tickets for the flight were rebooked on other planes.

The protesters were staging a three-day event, hoping to halt operations at the airport. Some of the protesters glued themselves to the terminal, while others were dancing on the roof. While they managed to cancel two flights, the airport continued operating with minimal disruptions.
