The Grizzlies are aiming to bounce back from a four-win 2018 season that saw them miss the playoffs.
The Havoc return to the road Saturday, April 20 at 6 p.m. against the Carolina Energy at Bojangles Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Energy were responsible for handing the Havoc it's first loss of the 2018 season and were on the other side of the playoff bracket where they faced the Richmond, now West Virginia, Roughriders. April 28 brings the Carolina Aviators of Elite Indoor Football to The Den for the Havoc's only non-league tilt of the season. That match-up will be followed a visit to Boone, North Carolina as they take on the Grizzlies on the campus of Appalachian State. That game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
On May 11, the Havoc then return to The Den to take on one of their two in-state foes, the Carolina Predators. That contest is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. kickoff. Florence, S.C. – The Carolina Havoc, 2018 defending champion of the American Arena League (AAL), is proud to announce it’s first international player, offensive lineman Cameron Craig. Craig comes to the Havoc after playing collegiate American football for the Southampton Stags. The six-foot, four-inch 294-pounder comes stateside to attempt to make the team’s final roster after overcoming a myriad physiological problems and illnesses.
Born seven weeks premature, Cameron overcame Dyspraxia, a rare condition that inhibits motor movement. He was encouraged to participate in sports throughout his life. As he grew, his motor skills improved to the point where he felt comfortable to play football and had the size to play offensive line. While in college he developed pneumonia and lost over 20 pounds. He fought to make it back into the Stags’ starting lineup and has progressed to the point where he is now making a go at a professional career.
Havoc head coach Anson Yarborough said of Cameron’s signing, “We’re excited to have Cameron come to camp. Our GM and I watched some of his film and were impressed by his footwork. We are bringing a number of veterans into camp and expect that Cameron will hold his own.” Owner Chris Duffy added, “Given the number of things that he’s overcome, we are excited for Cam to come to camp and compete against American players. I think that once the members of the Universe get to know him, he’ll become one of their favorites.”
The Havoc open their 2019 campaign at the Florence Center Friday, March 15, against the Cape Fear Heroes starting at 7 p.m. Season tickets are now on sale!
