Besides bringing political opponents together, the Congressional baseball game is also helping charities in the Washington, DC area. Last night's game at Nats Park raised over $1,000,000. The money will help the Washington Literacy Center, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington and the Nationals Dream Foundation. A Hill staffer tells WUSA-9 playing the game after Wednesday's shooting showed the ability to overcome and come together.
As players took the field, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise remained hospitalized in critical condition after being shot along with 3 others by a lone gunman as they were practicing for last night's annual charity game.
